GMIA makes submission to FDA on Natural, reference Docket - FDA-2014-N-120

FDA's previous established docket to receive information and comments on the term "natural" to establish the FDA's current thinking on the use of the term 'natural" in the labeling of human food products was due on or before...

February 10, 2016. The FDA has extended this comment period until May 10, 2016. Reasons for the docket and request for comment and review according to FDA are the following:
1. FDA received three citizen petitions asking that tey define the term "natural" for use in food labeling
2. FDA received one citixen petition asking they prohibit the term "natural" on food labels
3. Three Federal courts, as a result between litigation of private parties, have requested administrative determinations from the FDA.
